Yea, I Use Bots, and How Not to Buy a Landbot
Submitted by Sarah Nerd on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 06:40.Yesterday I received an im asking where to buy a landbot, since I "obviously use one", and it's not the first or last time someone has said something of this nature to me. So may as well get everything out in the open here (again). These are all of my current thoughts and views on land buying bots. I could be wrong on some points, but I can't script to save my life so I don't know jack about the technical side. First off , the only people who have land buying bots are scripters. And these scripters would never dream of selling or sharing a decent working competitive land bot. Why on earth would they sell something that can easily make more money on by running it than anyone would ever pay for it. It makes no sense for them to sell. From my experience anyone claiming to be making one for public use, or willing to sell one is just a scammer or misleading. Remember Bob Perry was claiming to making one that he would sell at a low price to all? What ever became of that?? And Fword Utorid, remember that joke? He took money under the belief that he was perfectly capable of making landbots and would script one for Project Public Landbot. Still haven't seen anything come out of that. NEVER pay someone to make a landbot for you. I can't stress this point enough. You'll just lose money because your either being scammed or buying a product someone is getting rid of because it wasn't competitive. And like I said I can't script to save my life but from what I understand the competitive working landbots take a lot of maintenance every time there is an update to sl, the bots need tweaked in order to function. You would need to ask one of the bot runners for specifics on that. But again my main point from my experience, and everything I have witnessed, You will NEVER be able to buy a working competitive bot and if you really really want one, your only hope is to learn how to script and figure it out on your own.

Blue Linden's Office Hour Concerning New Linden Backed Support Groups.
Submitted by Sarah Nerd on Wed, 04/16/2008 - 16:17.
My friend Dimitrio Lewis was kind enough to tp me to the start of Blue Linden's office hour tonight. The topic was a proposed new system where the Lindens support or endorse resident help groups outside of the mentor group. I think it might be a good program if they don't get to caught up in over regulating it. It's a bit of a long read, but if the topic interests you and you were unable to attend here it is...
[Editor Note - for some reason the text wasn't showing, possibly control characters in the text, so I added it as a downloadable attachment (text file).

Just checking in & Ranting a Little About Land.
Submitted by Sarah Nerd on Wed, 04/16/2008 - 02:34.Sorry my blogging has been slow lately. Just been handling more RL, and a forum addiction on SLUniverse, so figured I'd just check in. So crazy land week have been having eh? All in one simple official SL blog entry, all of our estates were devalued 40%. I took it as a bit of a slap in the face for every sim I've purchased in the last year. And ya know honestly I think lower prices will be better in the long run, I just disagree with the way it was handled. I think the estate decrease should have been gradual so that people and the economy could have adjusted at a reasonable rate. A decrease like that makes everyone holding sims feel like they were cheated and kills customer trust. When estates were 1675 average resale value was 1K-$1100 because of transfer, and sometimes move and renaming fees. The resale value now is going to be incredibly low compared to the original $1675 paid. I'm guessing 5-$650 range. Had it been a more gradual decrease people could have adjust better and not felt as cheated. Now if only they would lower tier.... I won't hold my breath.

It's Guy Fawkes Birth Day!
Submitted by Sarah Nerd on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 11:12.(Wikipedia) Guy Fawkes (born april 13th 1570, hanged Jan 31st 1606) sometimes known as Guido Fawkes, was a member of a group of roman catholic revolutionaries from England who planned to carry out the Gunpowder Plot The aim of the plot was to displace Portestantrule by attempting to blow up the House of Parliment, while king James I and the entire Protestant aristocracy were inside, a reaction to increasing oppression of Roman Catholic England.
Although Robert Catesby was the lead figure in thinking up the actual plot, Fawkes was put in charge of executing the plan due to his military and explosives experience. The plot was foiled shortly before its intended completion, as Fawkes was captured while guarding the gunpowder. Suspicion was aroused by his wearing a coat, boots and spurs, as if he intended to
leave very quickly.
Fawkes has left a lasting mark on history and popular culture. Held in the United Kingdom (and some parts of the commonwealth) on November 5 is bonfire night, centred on the plot and Fawkes. He has been mentioned in popular film, literature and music by people such as
Charles Dickens and John Lennon. There are geographical locations named after Fawkes, such as Isla Guy Fawkes in the Galapsgos Islands and Guy Fawkes River in Australia.
This concept makes just as much sense today as it did then. I'm going to celerbrate in the V for Vendetta style (one of my favorite movies) by spending my day wearing the Guy Fawkes mask by Siyu Suen of Illusions.
