I need your QUALITY freebies! I've just done a massive expansion of

freebie paradise (again) and I'm looking for lots of new items to fill it up

with. Each category now has it's own building.  While it's still a work in progress, 

it's time to get new designers in!

What does offering a $0L (I don't do the $1L thing) do for you??

Quality well made items that are given out as freebies can provide

amazing advertisement when packed well with a landmark and note card.

Freebie Paradise gets a traffic rating of 13,000 to 20000 daily. It

helps establish your name and get landmarks out and about. Trust me I

know this well. If you take care of a new player, they will remember

you later in there SL.

Offering a freebie also helps out the community, and helps give a new

player a good start. Players who have a satisfied start are more likely

to stick around.

My freebie guidelines..

Yes I have rules for offering freebies. I have a theory that freebies

at my place should be quality items, and not the typical "Well it's not

good enough to sell so I'll just throw it at some newbs" type freebies.

Look at the item. If it's not something that you would wear or use

yourself, don't expect a newb to want to either. Plus what ever you

hand out is often a persons first impression of your quality of work

and items.

*Items given to me must have copy and transfer rights. Both the box

they are in, and the items within the box. I redistribute them as no

transfer unless otherwise specified. Or to make it easier just message me in world

for a group invite and place it yourself while keeping your perms.

*No strictly advertisement items such as basic t-shirts with a club name on them. { Read more }

Being caught up with several real life things this week, I barely logged into SL.  And with a lot of work still needing done I hadn't planned to anytime soon, but when someone posted a picture of the newest Rezzable scupture I had to log in and take a look.  Titled "Grand Odalisque" this scupture is a nude plus sized woman laying comfortably in the center of a room with a few photography lights around.  


Seeing it in person shocked me in several ways.  First off, it's the most realistic thing I have ever come across in SL.  We have highly realistic skins and other items, but this is on a new level.  If I were to show someone a snapshot of it there's a good chance they might just assume it's photograph of a real woman lying there and not a 3-D piece of art in a virtual world.


        It also hit me pretty hard that this was probably the first time I had seen a model used with the same body type as mine.  Her breasts were a lot like mine even down to the veins, she has moles, dots, and other skin imperfections. She has a lot of the same imperfections I have. Usually when I find anyone or anything remotely like me and naked it's done so in a negative manner like in bad porn or picture being used for a "fatty joke".  Seeing this beautiful sculpture of an incredibly real woman filled me with a range of emotions.  I was just really struck by the realness of the woman this was modeled after.  She's laying out proudly, beautifully, and with a look of shame free content on her face.  I felt better about myself in the presence of this sculpture.

Well tonight with nothing much else for me to do in SL I decided to play fashonista. I tried out a new umbrella animation set I recently got from StoRin by Annah Whitfield and took a few pictures while listening to some nails tunes.



I think about 60 seconds into playing with all of the cool poses and textures on the included umbrellas I knew that the outfit I was wearing simply wouldn't do.  It was obviously time to break out one of my beloved Draconic Kiss poofy dresses.  Not that I ever need an excuse to wear those.



Ahh much better!  With my new change of clothing it was time to give this set of animations a real shot.  The set came with 10 different animations for both open and closed umbrellas.  Both of which came included in the set.  I played around more with the open umbrella animations because I liked them better.  That and since the animations ran separately from the umbrella itself, I was able to use them with umbrellas that I already owned like one of my favorite SL items, The Grave Digger parasol from Wilted Rose.



All in all I thought it was a fun set.  It has some really cute and feminine poses and made for some nice photographs.  And it was a lot of fun being a fashionista.  I'll be trying that again for sure! 

 

I logged in a little bit ago to work on a problem I'm having with YouTube loaders no longer working when I got a message from my friend Modesta Heying asking if I smoked. "Well not really" I answered because I've never really been able to get into cigarettes in real life. She said she didn't either, but it couldn't cause you any health problems in SL and she passed me a smoking animation over rider she made for her shop MALDITA ANIMATION. I opened it up and tried it on. My avatar quickly went from the generic default SL "stick in the ass" standing pose, to a very feminine and pretty pose. Every few seconds my avatar would take a puff from her new cig. I love it! And since the cig she holds in her right hand is not connected to the AO itself that attaches to your hud, it would be easy to interchange what you have attached to your avatars hand. I might play around a bit and have Sarah Nerd smoke a purple bubble pipe, so even on days I don't feel like pretend smoking a cig, I can still use the AO and the animations that I have instantly fallen in love with.

For as long as I can remember many people have disliked the appearance of the huge red flashing Ban lines that appeared when a neighbor set the land to no entry. That's why most estates I know have always had a "no banlines" clause in the covenant, and one of the many small reasons people prefer estates. I understand the need for privacy to some people. I didn't really understand the need for the ugly walls. Well that's soon to be a thing of the past. In an upcoming viewer, LL has decided to ad a feature that has the ability to turn off the visibility of ban lines. If you like the ugly red lines, well you will still be able to see them, but for the rest of us they will soon be seeing the off button. Personally I love this feature. Like others, I've talked about it at past office hours. I'm happy that they have listened to residents on the issue and took action.

I just finished attending the very first of many Town Hall Meeting to discuss ideas for the Second Tea Party. The idea of these meetings is to get as many members from the SL community as possible involved in the entire convention process, and to remain as transparent as possible with every aspect of it. I think the meeting went rather well. I'm posting the chat log for anyone that may have missed it. This log (and any that follow) will also be available on the Second Tea Party wiki, and social network. If anyone would like the two signs just message me in world and I'll drop them on you.
