Scum in SL
I had some friends who bought some land on a private sim, it was a good deal. Aparrently too good! Below is the unedited chat log, from the first talk with the land owner, then the guy who removed them. It is amazing that things like this are allowed to go on. It just goes to show that there are many who have land for sale and rent who are nothing more than scam artists.
We were scammed by Parish Blessed and Eloy Avro.. We were sold some land... told what we could do, paind the tier... then a couple of days later is ws returned from us AFTER we were told it was allowed and was approved by the Estate Owner.
I have transaction reports showing i paid.

after the report of borabora sim resident fitzcaraldo Darcy's, we discover you did place red tapes, ban lines around your land,to stop free fly around the sim.
this is a violation of the FIRST rule of the sim as you cant ignore it for having sign the convenant.
we cant tolerate such a behaviour in the sim, for this reason you are ban from our estates, your land is going to be reclaim and your objects return to you.

revisited ... fitzcaraldo darcy,
the person who was supposedly banned by Blish,
was the first thing (some say person) on my radar when entering borabora.
Not only that - he owns land there now and was building new dwellings. I went through his profile for groups - only one visible and then checked the other parcels. That one group was shared and the other owners profiles uncovered more mutual groups.
It would be interesting to know if his parcel in borabora is the one Annalyse ( schöner Name ;) owned for such short a while?

elroy Arvo is clearly an asshole of the first order. It's this sort of behaviour I find completely appalling in Second Life - to me this is the very worst form of griefing. It's rather a shame that there is simply no easy solution - other than to only part with substantial sums of cash in SL to people that you know and trust - or who come with a recommendation from from friends.

Bad landlord
I'm sorry but that's a bad landlord. The covenant is in place for a reason, but one they appear to know this other person who conducted the deal and two, you don't ban people for a first offence like that. Ban lines are a pain but they're not the end of the world. If people persistently ignore rules like that then yes, you can reclaim land but money should still be refunded.
Are there any redeeming features here, was a refund forthcoming?

Unfortunately, it does look like it was a bad judgment call on the part of the sim owner. I have rules about red lines on Sentience, for example, and sometimes a gentle reminder is all that is needed... NEVER just ban.
Plus, it looks like the sim owner doesn't speak a dialect of English I am familiar with, so some things may not have entered the brain.
It sucks, really. But at least people know who it is. If he has something to say, it will be interesting to hear the other side. For myself... well, it looks like a greedy landlord. That is my opinion.

he still has not paid yet, he keeps harassing me in IM, knowing I can't block him because if I do then he can't send me money.
Perhaps he needs some encouragement.
Of course, if he is harassing you in IM, you could abuse report him. That won't get your money back, either, but abusing someone without paying them is really low.

Sadly he is never going to re pay them, the only real hope is to get the word out. I understand they are talking to all of the other land owners. I talked to him briefly, and he seemed very proud of what he has done. (nothing new so I didn't paste it) My guess is that all 3 people are the same person as no one but the guy who removed them will talk. I know that ARs have been sent, lindens talked to ... we will see. The seedy belly of SL is what it really is.
I am in no way in favor of an in world legal system, but I wish the lindens would really make more of an effort on the land side of things. The covenants are great, but its just to easy to rob people with the current setup.

Hi there, I'm the Valerie that was mentioned in Annalyse's original communication with this creep. We got this land as a home and small office for our magazine business.
Well it's been around 2 weeks now, and nothing at all, no money refunded, or any kind of understanding from him.
I do agree (someone mentioned) that all three people could be the same person, makes perfect sense, because the woman we originally dealt with, has ignored us completely, when she was so helpful to us to begin with.
The only thing that makes me think that it's not the same person, is that the woman did speak better english. but most likely they're all in the scam here and royally ripped us off, and sadly, will do so again when the L$21,000 they took runs out, they'll do this again and again, and that furiates me to no end.
The guy stated he was french, and could explain his lack of english or knowing how SL works. We banned one person. and to that one person, the red ban lines will appear. if this guy knew anything about SL, he would have seen there were no ban lines when he went to our land to "reclaim" *cough*STOLE*Cough it. or seen the settings there to only ban him, and not everyone.
It does not make sense, that for a public business office, we would have ban lines up. LOL
He stated that it was the banned person, the one who griefed us in the first place, who sent him a picture of the ban lines, so of course it will look like that, but any intelligent land owner can check the settings and see clearly that ban lines for everyone was not done.
The land blocking the water ways, well the land was not completely set up to the edge of the border, we wanted to keep an island feel to it. But this is just another lame excuse he chose to use (and defend as ignorant as it is) against us to take the land away. We had it cleared with this woman who was the EM, and if there were any problems, we should have been talked to about it, we're reasonable, and if there was an issue, we would have talked it out and fixed it.
I am not holding my breath on getting back my money, I just hope that his name gets out everywhere on what a low life, scummy creep this guy is, and hope no one else gets taken for a ride, because it hurts. It does to get cheated like this. It hurt my anna, and I was so sad when it happened too, quickly replacing with anger that this A$$ did this to us.
I'm going to talk with other newspapers in SL, to see if the story can be made more public in SL, and more heat can get to this guy. I wish the Lindens would get involved with it and do something too, but although I love SL and their work here, I'm not holding my breath for them either as I know the stand they take on Private Estates.
Let's keep this going everyone, and TY for all your comments and words, it helps to be aware of creeps like this because it tarnishes all legit land businesses in SL. And we can do without this type of person being here in the game we love.
