In hopping around last night, I came across a furniture store that had a photo gallery attached - something worth visiting - but what interested me most was the sign on the left. They are using Flickr to show their wares as well. This is something that I have done in the past for the Y2P store, but haven't seen anyone else doing until now.
With Linden Lab having their own showcase of what they think is best, it remains up to residents to do their own showcases on the web. Not everyone can be favored, but everyone can be seen.
You can take a look at IDEA Furniture photos or simply teleport over to have a look:

I was looking Nobody Fugazi's Flickr photos and everything looks so exotic and tropical to me.
I find the plants, wildlife, scenery really nice, things I've never seen or even heard of before.
It's also -22C here tonite(no mosquitos anyways!!! :)
Point being.......Everyone in SL lives all over the world.
Every place has its own unique items. Maybe people could start selling what's unique to their RL place. Advertise it in SL, then direct them to buy it on ebay. I much rather look at what RL items people in SL may be selling. Buying cartoon items or even looking at them really doesn't interest me
If N.F (example) had RL photos at his SL store of what he's selling in RL, I would check it out, not saying I would buy, but would be interested to look.
(I was going to write about it with more examples, instead here's the short version.)
Funny enough...
I tried selling pics in SL of where I am. It didn't work.
