Way to go........Hillary.........Yes!

Snapshot_021

(Hillary Clinton 2008 Secondlife HQ in Platon, 132, 111, 24)

Well I always think of USA as the center of the universe, next to mine anyways, (Canada) and was recently looking at all the groups for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I was kind of surprised to see that there are over 2000 members in these various groups. But more so, I wondered from which countries these people might be from, and to what they think about the issues of these presidential nominees

That’s a good thing; it makes me realize that there are actually other people all over the world with opinions and ways of lives also. To be honest, I hardly think or know much about people’s thoughts other than Americans and Canadians. I have to consciously remind myself that there are people here from all over the globe as well. That statement alone makes me realize what is here, a virtual world, where we can listen to the views and beliefs from everyone from all over this (ant hill?) globe of ours.

Ok I’ll just get to it and say if I had a vote for the next president of the United States it would be for Hillary Clinton. She’s a democrat (that’s the main thing); she’s got experience, the brains and just strikes me as being someone very genuine about improving things. My second choice would be for Barack Obama, I think he would be great also, but needs a few more years of experience.
Just as long as a democrat wins!!!!!!!!

So national socialism is active in SL too?

I mean, that is Hillary Rodham's ideology, right? Barack Obama's views are probably closer to the democratic socialist model, while the GOP candidates are mostly corporatists.

Erm

I'm not taking sides on this at all - I want Ms. America for President (at least she wants world peace, that would be a start...)...

BUT...

aren't you confusing [w:socialism] with [w:socialist democracy]? People like to toss these isms around a lot, so please clarify this for me. I'm interested in what you think, but I am trying to navigate what you mean.

I mean...

...that Hillary Rodham has a national socialist ideology, as demonstrated by her socialist economics, condescension toward the post-bourgeois, post-literate "rabble", racialist essentialism, demands that private property be confiscated for "the common good", her conception of the military as a necessary model for American culture (with its strict classes and hierarchies, arbitrary rule-making, boredom), and her desire to use the military as a sort of global meals-on-wheels. And that voice! Every sentence seems to be commanding some unfortunate group to the gas chamber...

And Hillary Rodham wants world peace? LOL...only after "the perpetual war to end all wars"!

Erm.

And Hillary Rodham wants world peace? LOL...only after "the perpetual war to end all wars"!

I was referring to Ms. America, and even the most staunch Hillary supporter should be able to tell the difference.

Further, you didn't answer the question. Which is it? Socialism or Socialist Democracy?

Second Life Consultant

Well....

Socialism is an economic system, and social democracy is a political one.

Rather than Social Democracy, Hillary Rodham is closest to democratic socialism. But what makes it a "nationalist" version is not merely her desire to use the military for world-saving, but her conception of rights: she evidently believes that rights exist at the group level rather than primarily at the individual level. So unions have rights, races have rights, genders have rights, and the rights of individuals are subordinate to these franchises.

The Lesser of Two Weevils.

I'll see which way the issues crumble. The Democrat/Republican thing never made much sense to me, and makes even less sense with my experience with Parliamentary Democracy... brought to us by the same people who invented Cricket...

We have 50 women to choose from for Ms. America, right? I want 50 candidates. Admittedly, it will be hard to have animals for each party - but football teams seem to do well. Could be a new franchise, you know?

I'm rambling. Nevermind.

Laughing out laud

I've learned long ago. The fastest way to start a fight (and even change true friendships forever) is to talk politics or religion. So I usually keep it to myself.

As for 2008 Presidential elections... it's too early to say who will be the nominees for any party. Hence, proclaiming your favorites now only serve to broadcast your own mindset. (Not bad, mind you. But there are people who will prejudge you based solely on this alone. It's sad, really.)

Frankly, there aren't any candidates that really excite me personally, yet. So far it's all talk about why I *shouldn't* vote for the other guy.

I don't need to know why to vote *against* someone. What I need is to know why I should vote *for* you. So far, I'm just not getting that from any of them. I'm so sick and tired of all the 'hate' speech and I know I'm speaking for the majority, regardless of party or affiliation.

I will say this - it's the first U.S Presidential elections in something like 30 years where there are no 'anticipated' nominee (V. P. Cheney isn't running - so it's wide open on both sides.) *This* is what will make this election cycle far more interesting than previous ones in recent memory.

I just don't like the flip-floppers who always talk out of the side of their mouths and spin their 'beliefs' according to whatever last night's poll said.

That's why I suspect Obama will be the nominee. He, at least, sounds genuine.

The problem with Hillary is there is no grey area. Ask anyone in the United States about her. You will always get one of two answers: Love her to death or hate her to death. There is no in-between. And that's where she falters, because it's the undecideds who actually decide the vote.

So far the most interesting thing I've seen related to the '08 race was a bumper sticker that said...

"Bush, Clinton, Bush, ...Clinton?"

Most of politics

Most of politics is reading between the lines. They first have to get elected, and that's mostly saying what will get you there. It's just the way it is !

Obama 08

Its important for people to vote, regardless of your pick. Not voting means you give someone else your power to choose.

Amen

Well said! Hillary '08!!!
