Second Life, The Rookery Cay (85, 24, 22), Dec. 14, 2007 – Second Life entrepreneur Cadence Juran announces the initial public offering of MetaNetwork Media, Inc., the premier broadcasting and interactive media company of Second Life. The IPO will take place at the SL Capital Exchange beginning 11AM SLT, Saturday, Dec. 15.
“What if a company could take all the drama, excitement and achievements of the residents of Second Life, broadcast that information directly back to the public in a format that is engaging both in world and out of Second Life?" asked Juran, the chief executive officer of MetaNetwork Media. "Well I’m proud to announce that MetaNetwork Media will be the company to deliver such content directly to the consumer, the business owner and the shareholder," she said. “MetaNetwork Media will offer original broadcast news and entertainment that will dominate in Second Life and the rest of the metaverse.”
Taking the Multimedia Lead
“One of the differentiators for MetaNetwork Media (MNM) is that we will offer original programming that MNM will produce itself and make available via one of the most dynamic distribution networks in Second Life,” Juran explained. “MNM won’t be just a piece of the pie, MNM will be a vertically integrated operation starting with developing news and entertainment concepts, to filming and production, to distribution via an established gridwide network,” she said.
MNM is not only the shortened name of the company but also the ticker symbol on the SL Capital Exchange where its IPO shares are available for purchase.
MNM is made up of several divisions delivering news and entertainment within Second Life. The divisions include MetaNetwork News, MetaNetwork Radio and MetaNetwork Entertainment. The company will deliver both original programming and other popular content via its television, radio and Web site networks and on other Web 2.0 media platforms.
“At the IPO, we’ll show a special MNM sneak preview to investors and guests,” Juran announced. “This teaser will help communicate the potential that MNM offers to investors and to residents of Second Life. I can’t wait until they see the preview!”
According to Juran, the cornerstone of the network will be news programming carried via MNM. It will feature quality journalism leading to regular breaking and investigative news broadcasts integrated with advertising. “We’ll also have regular feature segments covering metaverse investing, building and technology as well as lifestyle and fashion,” she said.
The entertainment division will offer residents talk shows, game shows and soap operas along with action and drama series. The radio network will feature music channels and radio personalities to compliment radio news broadcasts.
“We expect to kick off MNM in mid-January with its initial programming,” Juran said. “We’ll also have a surprise or two to announce before then.”
Public Offering Details
• MetaNetwork Media, Inc., shares will initially be offered at L$5.00 a share.
• Initial public offering will commence at 9 a.m., Dec. 15, 2007, on the floor of the Second Life Capital Exchange located at JT World (127, 128, 22) and on their website: www.slcapex.com.
• Company founders and executive officers will be in attendance at the start of the public offering.

I used to subscribe to this site via RSS when Nobody was the sole writer. Why in god's name would I want to be bombarded with these ridiculous press releases full of hyperbole and unfounded claims? Just the claim that this latest dream of Juran's is "the premier broadcasting and interactive media company of Second Life" is nauseating to say the least. Every heard of SLCN TV? That's just one well established offering.
Consider this reader unsubscribed from this site - and judging by your falling Alexa ranking I'd say I'm not the only one...
That is unfortunate.
And I do appreciate the underhanded compliment - and your criticism is not without merit - after all, you're a reader - or you were - and this site is for readers as well as writers. It is a delicate balance. Addressing that balance, as you have pointed out, is important. I think I'm not alone when I say that we will try to remedy the balance of posts. For my part, I apologize - I have been absent a lot because of travel and system problems, and will be posting more often.
As far as Alexa rankings - I'm not too awfully concerned. I do know that certain people have been reloading pages to spoof the metrics, but I'm going to start being very proactive about that.

I didn't think reloading the pages worked like that. I know whenever I check that the read count doesn't seem to change when I check in and out of my own blog, or maybe it does and it's just slow to update.
As for the balance of posts, it's difficult to know the right time to post in case someone else has a pressing issue they want to raise.
Well, now you know. :-)
As far as when to post - often is fine, but perhaps more Cadence and less PR would interest people. You've got ideas and thoughts - I have heard you speak out. Letting others hear you may be really cool. I admire your focus, I really do, and I won't criticize you for what you have written.
Maybe people are asking for what you haven't written. And maybe that could be a lot of fun, too. :-)

Indeed, in world I am vocal 'on the field' and when time permits I do one on one interviews and of course press releases.
My posts are my form of writing, yes they are press releases and interviews, however they are what I am about. It's what Cadence is about and her interests, associates, partnerships, etc.
I am not trying to conform to the stereotypical blogging format/method. My posts are me and regardless of how one reader feels, each post, each project, each client, each person and each thought I type down is MY method of expression!!!!..... it is my unwavering focus to what I love to do.
It may not be what fits into everyone's ideal little box in terms of blogging, but needless to say it is information and it is what I am about. Period.
For the critics.. thats exactly all they are to me. People with an opinion. Its about results and if you Google me, you will see exactly that.. results.. if critics take the time to do their homework before rattling off their emotions.. then they will see the results I produce are indeed that of standards and quality.
So my retort to the critics are get over yourself. We are here to express ourselves and if that is through voice, interviews, writing, press releases, podcasts... whateva.... its up to that person.
I've never been one to be dictated to and I will not start now. Everyone is entitled to express themselves and their art, trade, thoughts, craft, etc. as they feel comfortable doing. I will continue to do the same.

You were not the intended target of my reply.. it was mainly a blanket statement for not just my critics but also for those who actually like to or want to write but does not want to post their material publicly b/c of such harsh criticism.
I'm used to it from what I do in SL and RL.. so I have to let it roll of my back.
But I STRONGLY encourage people to write more and not be deterred by the critics. Bottomline... there are just a bunch of hateful people that live in our society and no matter what you write or say they will always be disagreeable.
Current writers and future writers should stay focused on what makes THEM happy when they write, no matter what their writing style is.
That's really what I wanted to get across... and not so much take a shot at you or our great writing crew at Y2P :)
