Well it's been awhile since I brought up our favorite destroyer of mainland, Robo Marx. Since it's been so long and since I know it makes him hard to see his name here, I figured I'd just give you a fast look at his latest work. I wouldn't want anyone to forget what a scum bag he is is to the SL community, and I know he's proud of it. Here Robo has bought a water parcel smack dab in the middle of the sim Imolarto. It wasn't a roadside lot, or a lot against protected strips of land. I know your thinking, "But Sarah Robo only buys roadside lots". Your thinking that because thats what he swore to on a previous blog I did to on him when he was seeking investors. His exact words are "
Funny thing is, the only place I buy land is along the roadside as do many other real estate investors and advertisers." Well everyone knew that wasn't true the first time he said it, but just in case you had any doubt take a look at this lot. A fairly decent area. The builds arn't all spectacular but theres not an ad lot in sight. People generally pay well for waterfront sims so they generally are more well kept than the basic green stuff we see all over, which is probably why he targeted this land. Robo came along and changed that. As you can see he took this lot and cut 16-32 meter ads lots around the entire parcel and priced them at $1000L or $31.25L a meter. The average rate of mainland right now is in the 8's. I see no other reason for anyone doing this besides forcing the other residents of the sim to pay him an outrageous price or be forced to have ads ruin there once nice sim. I tried to fix up the center lot with a false island and palm trees, but we all know what its surroundings will look like in a few days. So thanks again Robo from the residents of SL!

CHILDISH POST
Sarah's normal childish post. Making her ridiculous hate speech towards a good business man. No one wants to hear your bitching!
Well...
Everyone has a good point from their point of view. ;)
I don't like what ROBO does. I bought my first land in a wonderful mainland sim. I LOVED it there. I held on to my parcel there for months even after I had acquired an entire sim of land elsewhere. Eventually, the lag from dozens of roadside 16m2 ads forced me to sell. For the record I think this was even long before ROBO came onto the grid, so he wasn't the perpetrator.
But I have to say that he is operating within Linden Lab's guidelines. They allow parcels to be cut that small. It's no covenant mainland. That's his right to do whatever the hell he wants with it.
Sara, if you don't like what ROBO is doing, you can do one of two things. You can get enough people behind you to change LL's policy of allowing land to be cut small (which would be bad because some people have legit uses for small parcels like that), or you can shut up and start dealing in private estate land.
Your arguments, to me, are like me bitching and whining because my neighbor's beat-up Chevy Nova, shotgun house, and unkempt grass don't look good next to my Mercedes and two-story brick home with well-manicured yard. I can either complain to the city or I can move to a better neighborhood.
Simple solution here... if residents don't like these things happening in their sims, move to a better neighborhood - a private estate. Or, fight with your followers through the appropriate channels to get things changed.
You can't complain and attack people if you are doing nothing to change the rules so they can't do stupid crap like they are doing. I hear a lot of whining but no real proposals for a solution... just a "Thanks Again, ROBO."
Robo is an idiot, he is destroying the mainland.
Sara is a constant complainer on this issue that, to my knowledge, has never really proposed any solution.
I don't really care. I say if you want to avoid the ads, go to a private estate. Period.
Some people don't have the
Some people don't have the option to move to private estates. They may cost more, or people may just want the security of paying fee's to Linden labs and not a private estate owner. They also lose the 512 they get tier free with premium membership. They may also want to stay in the place that they have made a home for a very long time. I don't think its right that someone comes into a nice area and makes it look like total shit at excessive prices forcing people to pay out the ass or live next to crap. It's a dirty way to treat others in our community, within the TOS or not it's ethically wrong.
I do more than just "bitch" on my blog. I am active in world groups like the arbor project that holds ad lots until they can be rejoined to larger parcels, I go to discussion groups on the subject, and I vote on proposed solutions in Jira, and I distribute landmines with every parcel I sell. When I "bitch" about these topics on my blog I feel I am raising awareness on subjects that concern me and other residents. I'm sorry my actions do suit your prioritys, but I feel raising awareness is the best thing I can do at the moment, just like I'm sure you feel complaining about my blogs helps in some sort of way.
I will continue to discuss
I will continue to discuss topics like land spam that are a concern of mine, and the general sl population. If this is not what your interested in reading, I'd suggest moving along to one of the other fine Y2p bloggers.
And as for good business man.......Well I suppose that shows your lack of understanding in some his dirty business tactics he has used in the past and continues. In my opinion, a good business man would take notice of the concerns of the community.
Slowing Mainland Destruction
I had an idea for slowing the destruction of the mainland by ad cutters. After seeing a few areas I sold that had been nice for years ruined by ad cutters, I feel the problem in part comes down to selling protected roadside land publicly. This is like sharks smelling the blood in the water. The TP home script only delays them, doesn't stop them.
Basically my idea would be a group created where people who wanted to sell roadside land or other vulnerable areas could post notices that they have land for sale. Businesses or residents interested in buying these types of properties could also join the group and find what they need. The land never goes on public sale.
Probably wouldn't work unless you got enough buyers and sellers to participate to create enough momentum and that's hard in SL.
I think that this was tried...
James Gill and others did work on that, I think - Sarah would know better than I.
But the reality is that if [w:Linden Lab] didn't sell simulators with 'roadways' that they never use and cause bad cuts to the land... well, then there wouldn't be odd chunks of land like that laying about unless someone created them.
Linden Lab has been destitute in protecting the land metaphor product - and creating 'roadways', et al, that they never actually do anything with... well, that is just... to be expected from Linden Lab.

I'm not sure if there was a
I'm not sure if there was a direct group for this or not. It's entirly possible, but I don't remember one. Latley I have been using "landmines". They tp home cutters on the arbor list if they step food on your land. Not sure if it helps but it makes me feel better knowing that ad cutters worlds are slowly shrinking. If your interested theres a display in my freebie paradise.
The comments prove you wrong.
But thanks for stopping by.
As far as 'hate speech', that is a label which simply does not fit. You might be able to argue that Sarah is being overly critical, but that is a hard case to make based on the volume and quality of discussion on this post.
In essence: Do better next time. ;-)

The real problem...
Is that people buy the leftover land near his ads (like Sarah's "center lot with a false island and palm trees". By buying that leftover center lot, all you did was leave ROBO with a bunch of highly profitable ad lots.... and cleared his tier for him so he could move on to another place.
The "fault", if there is
The "fault", if there is such a thing here, is with LL and ROBO. The reason I question the need for finding fault is because LL has created a game world and system of rules for it that allows ad cutting businesses. They are legitimate businesses within SL at this time. So are things like land trading, landbots, campbots, banks and stock markets, and prostitution. Should they be allowed in SL? Well, simply, that's not our decision. All of them are allowed, at least for the time being.
LL has responsibility over this game world they have created and they provide the level of management and oversight they see fit. Users of the game are *not* responsible for the rules LL makes. Various businesses take responsibility for their own business practices and their success or failure is based on the decisions they make. Customers take responsibility for their business decisions as well.
I didn't buy the lot off of
I didn't buy the lot off of Robo, I guess he had already dumped it below the lowest land on the list and it was relisted. I landed it looked nice, it was water at 7.9 so I knew if I waited to long someone else would buy. Robos name didn't pop up on the buy screen, so I bought it. Anouther factor in me buying it, I have been using windlight first look. I have show property lines on 100% of the time, but in windlight I can not see the property lines while I'm above the water. So again, seemed like a decent deal, I bought from someone other than him and didn't see that the lot had been surrounded by ads until I went under water to find my property lines before building.
And yea Your logic makes total sense, it's the people and bots that buy a piece of land that pops up low at low or way below market value that are the problem, not the one creating the mess in the first place. (rolls eyes) Do you have any idea how many nice sims he has turned to total shit? Haven't you seen his nasty rotating auction ads all over the mainland? If you had theres no way in hell you just excuse all of his actions.
I didn't lay the blame on
I didn't lay the blame on those buying the leftover land... I simply said that, if you want a tactic that works better that bitching on a blog, don't buy the leftovers and educate others to do the same.
Sarah's been around longer than the blog.
And she has tried to educate people within SL. So now she writes on her blog, a reasonable extension.
I agree with not buying leftovers, but then I don't deal in mainland anymore. The trouble with leftovers is that sometimes you need to buy them to protect your investment.
It is not so clear cut. I admire Sarah for sticking it out on the mainland - I prefer island life myself.

Alright I will take you
Alright I will take you bitching on my blog about me bitching in my blog to heart and try to educate others on the subject. Oh wait, I thought when I blogged about topics that were important to me, I was helping educate others on the topic. Say that three times fast.
Worth a try?
This seems to work for some people - http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=...
ROBO goes public - hope the scum keeps good records
I see ROBO scum is going public with an IPO (from the group charter of Blue Diamond Virtual Reit: BDVR - Blue Diamond Virtual REIT Approved For IPO
ROBO Marx's BDVR venture has been given approval for its IPO plans. Out of a total issue of 1 million shares, 400,000 will be offered for sale to the public at 1 L$ each. Funds raised will go to expanding BDVR's existing mainland land portfolio from 8000 square meters to 32,000 square meters, with additional funds held in reserve in interest bearing instruments for expenses such as tier, etc." Anyone buying into this is just as bad as he is, and things do have a way of coming back.
Well I certainly hope he is keeping good records as I'm sure that the taxman will be very interested in the profits (extortion) he is making on SL.
And for those like DAD Bingyi of MGK adboards who is buying some of Robo's plots (and those that advertise with them), just know that people will be highly encouraged to boycott all the advertisers who use these services such as NFL Land Store (jonothan Sivocci), Myers Shephers & Sirita Bebanco, Club Jewel, RB Creation, Dominus Designs, MasaFiddel Rental Shops (Pail Masala & Fubar Fiddlesticks), Loufa Shilova animations - these are all advertisers with ads that are helping destroy not roadside, but beautiful waterfront land that people payed a premium for - Boycott them, tell your friends to boycott them, and let them know why!
Hmm
I wouldn't boycott an advertiser just for using a billboard service if the billboard was tastefully done. The problem is I don't see many that are tastefully done although there's a big advertising program going on with a land seller right now for a gentleman's club, I can't remember the name but the ads aren't distasteful and nor are they really an eyesore.
It's the floating spinning adult friend finder ads that I find to be an eyesore.
A row of ads tasteful or not is an eyesore
One billboard in a commercial type area is one thing, but rows of billboards no matter how tastefully done are an eyesore. Perhaps if you had just spent hundreds of dollars on a large parcel of land in a nice quite sim, only to logon one day to see even one billboard blocking your nice waterfront sunset you would feel differently. So yes, do boycott the advertisers, any advertisers who don't care to check where their advertisements are going. Being a business owner carries a responsibility, and if you choose to use billboards on SL to advertise your business, the locations where they go should be important - it would make sense to put them in high traffic business locations that might attract customers, but it is stupid to put them in locations that are just going to piss people off.
Location, Location, Location
I don't see much point in an advertising campaign in a residential area, but along Linden road? Hell yes, that's where they should be. Not that people use Linden roads enough, although it doesn't help that they stopped building them.
I also don't mind it there are rows of them if they're in the right place. If my nice waterfront sunset suddenly becomes a commercial zone then I'd have to consider if I wanted to live right next to a smelly old mall in the first place.
HAHAHAHA
So he got turned down by 3 stock exchanges...Let me guess...he went to ACE??
Let Me just say.
Hey Lindsay hows that credit scam your running.
And let me just say TY to Int and staff. They truly dont just create alts to create new Co's and pump and dump stock like some other exchanges. I am living or virtual(however u wanna look at it)proof.
BTW sarah u and ur buddy Yohan are picking up alot of scrap ML.
How are those bots u own doing?
LOL
Robo
Well Thanks again for
Well Thanks again for showing your true personality to anyone who ever doubts my blogs on you. My buddy Yohan is doing great! As for how well his bots are doing you would need to ask him. And it's rather silly how when you have no valid points to make you resort to making up false claims. But logical, smart, or even civil comments are not something I would expect from you, so your latest doesn't suprise me in the least.
