Marc Braggs (Braggs vs. LL) Landbot Activist Turned Spam Ad Land Dealer?????
This comment left by Marc Woebegone (Marc Bragg) on the Landbot Invasion Blog site and directory shows him bragging about his new way of defeating landbots. It links to Marc's own blog where he details buying nice land and cutting it into several ad lots to test the price buying level of bots. Well all he needed to do was ask any one who deals land. Or hey ask the bot runners. I know at least a few of them would tell me the current buying rate and size if I were to ask. They can tell You what the bots are buying at. He also claims that bots are unable to buy at set sizes, and will buy any size land at the set price per meter. This is also a fact thats well known to be untrue by anyone who deals land. He goes into detail about his price findings and what a profit he is making while selling the bots "worthless" land. Basically Marc destroyed mainland to find out what everyone else is already fully aware of, became anouther spam lot dealer (just what we needed), and encourages others to do the same. Honestly at this point, I'm just ashamed at myself for ever associating myself with him in the first place.

Marc really didn't listen.
He appears to just be going off on his own, doing his own thing and trying to figure things out himself. I think he is really not making much sense with any of that. I'll go comment...

It's funny how you spin it
To me and I am sure to others reading your helpline regularly, it seems like a power struggle within the group that was suppose to help residents.
This seems like a well executed plan by you and Sarah to boot Marc out - to get back the center stage - Ms Nice and Mr Nice trying to save the Second World. Why not try to save the real world that drops thousands of people daily to their graves - because people like you are power hungry. Why not save people's lives in real world rather than dumping money into a virtual world where you are trying to make it perfect?
So Marc was trying something out and you come out publicly without consulting with him?
This shows how much bull shit Sarah must have wrote about the others when she finger points to a group or a bot or anyone - almost always days after the event.
Consider one less person to read your blog from now on - such biased and one sided blog I've ever read.
Odd.
I see Marc's spin as a way to say that no one else who has dealt with landbots knows what they are doing. I mean - seriously - anyone who gets to the point of cutting up good land to say, "I got you!" to a landbot really hasn't been at it that long and doesn't understand the implications of why people are upset about the abuse of 16 m2 plots in general.
I am certain that if you cannot understand, it is because you do not wish to. I hold no power, I want no power. That would be the Prokofy Neva department - which isn't here.
When people do foolish things and what they do is criticized, that is not a power struggle. That is valid criticism.
As far as losing readers, well - that is par for the course when you don't take the popular-non-thinking line now and then. Being popular should be secondary to being consistent in opinion and distributing information of use - something which is respected by the readers I would like to have. If you have been reading the site long enough (I don't think you have) you would know that 16m2 ads are a very touchy subject and is quite open to criticism.
If you find the consistency disturbing - thanks for commenting and good luck in future endeavors.

bunch of clowns
Sarah/Stuck/JJ aka V,
What is the difference between what you are doing and what Marc is doing and what landbots does?
You guys are really look like clowns in a circus right now. Doing a favor for the people eh?
You all blog about landbots so that you can gain popularity and that is what Marc has done - in the mean time making money. Has anyone of you really consider finding a useful solution other than to just write crap all the time with one sided stories? Really think about it.
‘Stuck’ when did people start loving you man? It’s funny how the world spins here - now some of you are sleeping with landbot owners just so that each other can benefit - mutual partnership. Great idea.
Why don’t you include Marc in it too? Well he is known for his controversial crap to gain popularity, he can maybe bring you some fame too.
What a bunch of crooks.
oh one more thing, what did you do with the money you collected on WSE?
oh Sarah, look what you have taught some of the newbies now, how to cut and sell lands at 16sqm pieces and make money.
Job well done.
JB
I blog about landbots
First off I don't think such a rude, way off base comment and personal attack deserves a response or should even be on this site, but since I'm not doing anything wrong here, I'll go ahead and give You a break down of answers.
I blog about landbots because it's something I feel strongly about. It doesn't gain me any popularity, it doesn't make me any money. I write what I feel about things, what else can I do? Not sure about this mutual partnership, but hey if the crazys want to have conspiracy theorys I'm not gonna stop em. But I am curious what this mutual partnership is and what I get out of it? I hope You share because I'm sure it's interesting and I'd like a good laugh. The only basis your going on here is the fact that I link to Yohans blog and I'm friends with him. It's not a fact that I hide. He is funny and smart. I like the guy. He gives back all errors, and I think the landbot dirrectory he made is very usfull. I also share a strong dislike of spam lot dealing with him. This doesn't change my feelings on landbots in general. Yohan knows my feelings, but to think I can't be friends with someone I have a difference of opinion with is just childish. I despise my brother in laws views on gay marriage but hey, He's still invited to Thanksgiving dinner.
As for my IPO money that was mine to decide how to invest and has nothing to do with this blog and is just You grabbing at anything You can, I spent (and am still spending it) on ....New operating systems, Estate sims, mainland, tier costs, buildings, much heavier advertising on slexchange, sl-newspaper, Metaverse messenger, SLCC papers, The SLCC itself, I bought out a huge chunk of retired skins from 2 skin designers, I bought out several retired hairstyles from Sinnocent and still do now and then, clothing lines, rental system, Help, and so on and so on. And I'm such a crook like You say that I always pay my dividends, and I have been buying my ownstock back on a regular basis.
And Yea I'm totally teaching newbs how to make 16's. You got me.
So thanks JB? Thanks for Your educated, informative, and well thought out blog response. (That's Sarcasm in case You couldn't catch it.)
That's a bit harsh
James you'd have been better suggesting an alternative rather than just criticising those who are highlighting the menace that bots can be.
Bots can't be banned, so education is key. I'd like to see a bot warning in the land sale window, something along the lines of "Be aware that a bot could buy you're land in seconds, even if you can't see anyone else in the vicinity".
The vast majority of users don't know land bots exist.
Landbots Bop Back
UPDATE: Well, I was surprised by the little uproar by Nobody Fugazi, and Sara Nerd to my investigation techniques; like the small plot I used is gonna make any real difference... ah well. Seems my investigation turned their stomachs, so I'm' bowing out of the landbot thing. No real interest anyway it seems after all that, just a lot of agendas. I'll resign from the group firs chance I get to connect to SL again, leaving Bailey in charge. Good luck everyone.
It wasn't an uproar on my part.
But it seemed like a very naive approach - and not an original one. 16 m ads are something that really rub people the wrong way.
If you're pulling out of the landbot issue because people think you did something wrong, Marc, then you never really were interested in the issue. This isn't something that is a simple hack to fix. This is not an issue that is isolated.
Frankly, you should know better. Until you do know better, you probably shouldn't try to help anyone.
Unless, of course, you really think you're smarter than everyone has been dealing with these issues during the extended period while you were away - and probably before then as well.

Landbots ... and all that stuff
really, S, seems you should have just contacted me then rather than blowoff like a smoke bomb. was just trying to help. well, i guess as usual in SL, to each their own. I'll bow out of the landbot crusade. good luck with all your battles.
so it goes.
Marc
Since it was already in
Since it was already in comments and blogs, and Your blog cleary waved away people against spam lot dealing I assumed it was up for public debate and past the point of private in world contact.
Don't try to pass this one off on Sarah.
You're the one who went lone ranger without any due diligence. Not Sarah. If she thumped you hard, be thankful I wasn't the one who caught you at it. I would have come down a lot heavier because the community expectations as well as the media expectations of you have been high.
Perhaps they have been inflated.
If you want to deal with a community issue, consider discussing with the community. Lots of people, lots of experience, and you end up with less egg on your face.

hey nobody, sorry i took so long to see your response
Sorry, I won't be brow beaten into "your" philosophy of what's right.... "egg" on my face? my reputation among the closed knit segragionist small minded community of SL is hardly of moment to me.. try some real eggs for a change.
otherwise, good luck.
MW
No brow beating, Bragg.
Quite simply, I don't believe in destroying something to make a point. We could all take cats apart to see what makes them work, but then what would we do with the pieces?
There is no brow beating, Marc. Just a statement of something that should be obvious to someone who lends some thought to a matter. Its a chess game, only you can't win if you sacrifice your king. That, of course, isn't written in a chess book somewhere - so feel free to try it out.
On a personal level, I think what you did was pretty dumb. That is a personal opinion, and doesn't reflect your intelligence - but it is an opinion on your actions. A person of your education should be able to distinguish the two, but there are people out there who cannot - so I cleared it up before someone like Prok starts shouting that I said you're dumb. I haven't.
Which means, of course, she'll start shouting that I said you're dumb. That, too, is part of the chess game. As was this paragraph.
A lot of people looked up to you for socking one to Linden Lab - but that was that. This is a separate topic, and that doesn't weigh in on this at all.
