Your2ndPlace.com Opens Up

Since Your2ndPlace.com is now fairly well established and has passed the Super Secret Stage 2 Beta that I alone knew about (afterward), its time to open things up a bit. Starting on the 26th of October, 2007, the site will be opening up to allow this. Why so long? Nobody Fugazi has to put together a Blogger's User Manual for Your2ndPlace.com, and he is so busy he has little time for procrastination.

Your2ndPlace.com is opening up and allowing more people to blog. This also means generating your own income from the Google Ads displayed next to your content, and getting the word out on what you are doing in your virtual world - or worlds. You have a say, and since this is Your 2nd Place, well - it stands to reason you may be able to blog here. It is fairly certain that you have your own ideas and thoughts - why not express them?

The criteria for getting a blog are:

• That you have a group or business in a virtual world, such as Second Life.
• You can write, or are interested in becoming a better writer.
• You don't smell funny.

Obviously, the third item is the equivalent of 'Management Reserves the Right to Refuse Admission'. Since people are unlikely to say, 'Nobody Fugazi wouldn't give me a blog because I smell funny', this could have worked well - but the reality is that it is much more difficult than that.

The basic reason Nobody Fugazi may say that you smell funny is if you consistently abusing virtual world communities or individuals in virtual communities who do not abuse virtual world communities. This would mean using 'freedom of expression' to adversely affect the freedoms of others. As you can see, this could be very hard to implement.

Until we have 10 active bloggers on the site, Nobody Fugazi will get charged with smelling funny people and smelling funny smelling people - a job he will quite happily leave to the community of bloggers once there are enough bloggers participating. When 10 or more bloggers aggregate here, each blogger will have a say in how things are run while Nobody Fugazi maintains editorial discretion. It isn't perfect, but Nobody Fugazi does have a good track record here and on the island of Sentience, which operates the same way.

In the notecard, just give me a brief idea of your company and/or group(s) and why you think you don't smell funny (just kidding!). You will not become a multizillionaire from Google Ads. You can, however, make a few bucks with your own content while maintaining your own [w:copyright]. You write it, you own it.

Why Should I Blog Here? I Can Get My Own Site!

Of course you can. But you can also participate on an established group weblog where your content is featured. The choice is up to you - Your2ndPlace.com is simply available to you. No hard sell. If you don't want to be here, you shouldn't be here. :-)
