Anshe and Other Old Sim Owners Keep the Advantage. For Now at Least........

Well it seems that Anshe and other owners of old grandfathered sims will get to keep there advantage over others until the end of the year, probably longer. Robin Linden announced tonight in The Official Linden Blog that Linden Labs has no intention of raising prices soon, and defiantly not during the fourth quarter of this year. She did however make it clear that prices may change in the future. The blog read as follows....

Recent comments on this blog, and at least one post
on a Resident blog, express concern that Linden Lab is planning to
raise prices on monthly maintenance fees for land. In order to clarify
our pricing intentions, I want to reiterate that:

- we have no immediate plans to raise the ‘grandfathered’ island
pricing. This doesn’t mean it won’t change at some point, but certainly
not in Q4.

- we are evaluating changes to the configuration of premium /basic
subscription models and to mainland tier pricing, but have no specific
plans, and again, we don’t expect anything to change in Q4.

- we are also reviewing some pricing changes on the LindeX
associated with rolling out more international payment mechanisms, but
the variety of global payment mechanisms make this very challenging,
and we don’t expect any changes in Q4.

Should we decide at a future time that we need to implement pricing
changes, we’ll give as much advance notice as we possibly can to
facilitate your planning.

Anshe and VAT

Hasn't Anshe been stung by VAT?

There was a commitment from LL that prices wouldn't rise in 2007 for the grandfathered islands and that any increase would receive 60 days notification, so there was nothing new in Robin's blog.

The November rumours stem from November being sixty days from the start of 2008, so notification was expected in November for a 2008 rise. LL are going to look pretty silly now though if they do announce rises in November to be implemented in early 2008.

Surely a better remodelling exercise would be to raise grandfathered tiers and lower those tiers for people on newer islands to meet at around the $250 mark.

Linden Lab is consistent...

They selectively give advantage - ad infinitum, ad nauseam.
