Wanted: Jasper Tizzy
In the ongoing saga of Jasper Tizzy, I've been getting lots of instant messages asking me if I've heard anything new. I have heard plenty of things, of course, but there is not much to most of it other than smoke and mirrors. Previous reports still stand.
No Tizzy.
So today I got pulled in on a protest which included actual pictures of Jasper Tizzy with Philip Rosedale (click it for a larger view) - who somehow always seems to be pulled in, as he was in the Ginko Financial idiocy. There is a difference this time, though - apparently Philip took lots of shots with lots of people. No biggie.
Xavier Mohr is also wondering what is going on - there is a lot of conflicting information out there, very little in the way of credible sources ('my friend told me' is not credible). Jasper's real name is supposedly circulating, but no one really knows much. All sorts of allegations are out there, but the fact of the matter remains that there are few facts.
So - what we have are failed ATMs, conflicting information all over the place and lots of angry people. Sound familiar? It does to me. It is very similar to when Ginko closed its doors, though this time the community has been spared the drama of lowered withdrawal limits by the immediate creation of a withdrawal limit of 0 Lindens. Tizzy was apparently supposed to be back yesterday to address issues, but... nothing yet. And the claims that all ATMs of 'The Bank' would have a memory problem does seem a little thin.
With the history of the fall of Ginko Financial, where the community properly felt that there was nothing which they could do, the signs are beginning to show in this case as well. There is, apparently, a difference this time - people met Jasper Tizzy at SLCC. They have pictures of him, they claim to know where he lives (within the United States). Will that matter? No one really knows, but people are becoming angry.
As more develops, I'll put it out here - but the Magic 8 ball says "Outlook Not Good".
Regulation. Hah.

Jasper Tizzy
This whole mess makes all those that jumped over to vstex (Bart Heart, Bob Perry), look like complete and utter dickheads.
We do agree that this didn't
We do agree that this didn't do us and Vstex listed companies any good, but actually picking our stock exchange wasn't a bad move.
Sadly a bad apple can ruin everything for everyone else.
We're currently trying to save whatever can be saved from this mess.

Not a friend...
Jasper himself actually told me that he was away on RL business and "not bankrupt" the night that all this started. No third party information there.
However I am hearing that he named new group owners for CGI and AVC, which sort-of indicates he may not be coming back. One of the problems is that we are all doing a lot of "hearing" and as you indicated the information is most often contradictory and confusing. Who knows?
Strange Ranger actually wrote something interesting on Jasper... worth checking out at sl.webfeedcentral.com.

Thanks Samantha
That is a good pointer. I'm following with interest.
Wasn't talking about you.
I was talking about everyone else. You wrote what you wrote. ;-)

I just read it wrong, sorry. SL is suffering from the RL nightmare that has been Xavier's past two weeks. Deep in my heart, something I would never say in any official capacity... is that "I don't think we've heard the last of jasper Tizzy." I could be wrong. With so many people disappearing lately it is hard to tell. --- XM
Then...
create a login so I don't have to keep approving your comments, Xavier. ;-)
Happy Now?
Let's see if this works. What is it with people and the winking smile lately?
Sure.
And winking is a way of nudging someone in text. :-) But now you don't have to wait for me to permit comments. Contrary to what some may believe, the real issue is the spam comments about viagra and levitra and hermaphrodite self-gratifying dingos.
The spam is killer...
LOL... yeah we had the spam comments problem on one of our old sites. Not fun!
You have the problem on one
You have the problem on one of your current sites, too, but nobody ever sees them (not this Nobody, but everybody) because somebody deletes them all, by hand. Luckily, it's not to the point where I've had to turn on the keyword filtering, yet (maybe 5-10 a day). One of my sites still get hundreds of those every day... Gotta love Akismet.
Strange
Heh.
I use the Troll module for Drupal and do IP Bans that way. Some glue code transforms keywords into input for that module, but I still manually approve to avoid issues.
And OpenDepth is actually a running joke. ;-)
