The Most Popular Places in Our Entire World. (OR as it should be called) Where to Camp!

Well with about 40 minites to kill before picking up my oldest daughter from school, I figured I would check out what the popular list had to offer. Sometimes I get so tied up in playing with land, I lose track of whats happening in our social and clubbing society. Ok I honestly didn't expect to find much worth while there, but thought I would point out what new players see of our world when they start searching for the first time, and why our traffic system is so messed up. When Your fairly new to SL, You really have no idea what Second Life has to Offer. Since Your not sure what Your searching for, search isn't the best place to start. But hey wait! Theres a popular list button. A whole tab devoted to what's popular in SL. Sounds Awesome right? Ok lets start our journy into the most popular places in our world according to the SL traffic ranking system.

1.SEXY LAND! Ohh Laa laa that sounds like naughty fun eh? I teleport into what looks like a bad nightmare after a day of watching to many commercials. I have ads on all sides of me. ALL sides of me, even below my feet. I find my way out of the ad maze, pass a ad filled mall, to find a boat of dancing campers. Ok still not seeing the sexy. I fly around. I find a pyramid building filled with more campers. Finally I fly to a theater that seems fairly camper free, so in other words, empty. There is a large screen showing free porn. That must be the sexy. Moving on.

2.apfelland. This doesn't seem to be anything more than a camper filled mall. Moving on.

3.HippyPay.com. If Your not familiar with this, or ever had the pleasure of seeing the hippy pay atms scattered all over mainland, HippyPay is nothing more than a fill out bad advertisment survey's for a few linden place, riddled with campers. Only cool part I can see is a tie dye VW Bus. If You want to sell your soul and all of your personal information for $50L, check this place out!

4.Welfare island. Just like #3 with a welfare theme.

5.LA CITTADELLA Italia Italy Germany Usa Brasil Japan France. Although this sim looks well done, it's just more malls and more campers. Theres an area labeled disco but I can't get in because it's access only.

6.Sexy Beach. Nice Beach Set up, Shops Shops Shops and campers, but I did find the sexy beach. A spot on the sim with a newb orgy going on. Random people humping, and random people waiting alone on pose ball sets, in hopes to be humping a stranger soon.

7.Money Island. See spots 3 and 4 for a general idea of this place.

8.Life is Life. Malls Shops, and more campers. My descriptions in this blog are starting to lack detail because all of this is starting to look the same.

9. Freebie Planet. 0L Freebies, Freebies with small prices attached, and campers. (I like my place better but hey I guess I'm partial to myself)

10.! D&A Designs SKINS + CLOTHES + ACCESSORIES + CAMPING CHAIRS. Well I guess the title says it all. You start in a room where the walls are covered in paid ad spaces, and off to the sides they sell there own product. Campers all around.

Well I could go through 11-20 But it's time to go pick up my girl, and If You haven't gotten a feel for what our popular places section is littered with by now You never will. Tongue out

Save You self some searching and just ask a real resident (not a zombie camper) where's a good place to check out in sl? I know anything they mention will be far better than whats considered "Popular".

I went exploring and found the same

I was out and about doing the same thing yesterday, trying to figure out what makes the popular places so popular. I have a friend that would like to increase traffic to his sim so I too thought I would visit the list of popular places. I was getting a little bored and was ready to call it a day, but decided to check out one more place, Botany Bay Treasure Hunt.

I teleported and was dropped into a lobby where I has handed a notecard. The notecard talked about three locations where you buy a pass and search for diamonds. The diamonds are then redeemed by IM with the owner. I thought hey this sim owner may be on to something. I decided to participate in a treasure hunt. I went to the teleport kiosk, but that wasn’t working so I ventured outside past all of the floor washers, bench sitters and gardeners. I saw the castle up on the hill so decided to proceed and check it out. I walked (flying is disabled here) past some floating campers and arrived on the castle grounds. There was a big sign asking me to click the ground and select buy pass. They wanted 150L for entry. I paid my entry fee hoping to find some diamonds and started to the entryway.

Well I wandered through the entry, past the dining room, dropped down into the dungeon where I was showered with blood, laid in a crypt, clicked a lot of tombstones and secret doors, but no diamonds. I teleported back to the entry. I proceeded upstairs through a staircase concealed by a curtain. I opened wardrobes and saw dead bodies in bags, chests with lids that opened and a wandering eye telling me he was watching me. I tried to get to the roof, but couldn’t find the secret passage. However, I did explore and click everything on the roof with my camera controls. All the while I continued to click everything I could in hopes of finding just one diamond.

After 45 minutes I had no diamonds, was tired and frustrated and had had enough. I was disappointed, because initially this sim showed promise. I left.

This treasure hunt could have been fun and is a great concept, but it left me feeling the same way about the popular places. They are replete with campers and shops and if there is a theme there is no follow through.

There are 2 places I'd

There are 2 places I'd recommend that once in awhile appear in popular places... and both don't have total campage.

One is Vienna freebies (owned by Ice Strawberry)... it simply happens to be an always jam packed freebie & mall type spot. Don't know why sometimes its massively huge for a day, but they have some cool stuff to offer. some art, some info, and of course a big wad of newbs learning the ropes.

the other place is TJice's Virtual Rave, sometimes renamed to Dance Island, Virtual Rave, and some other names. The place does have camping, but they fill the island with the rave & party people. And lots of times they have full day lineups of live djs.

I first found Vienna

I first found Vienna freebies because they were using my name in there description, along with Yandi's ect. which I did not care for because I am in no way associated with them and it was just a way to take traffic, but shortly after I asked them to remove it they did so problem resolved quickly.

I'll have to check out the Virtual Rave. I have been club hopping a little in an effort to find a cool spot for my sister to hang out and meet new people in an effort to make her like sl and stay in the game with me.Wink Sounds like something that might be up her alley.

Timeless Underground.

Pretty cool spot too. No stuff, really - just a good time.

Hehe.

Campular.

I'll have to wander to a few of these places for some nice avatar welfare snapshots.
