[w:Linden Lab] posted a public response about the lawsuit with Bragg - the one where the Terms of Service were ruled 'not legally binding'.
From the Linden Lab entry:
...Linden Lab also alleged that “The objective of Bragg’s scheme was to obtain access to ‘virtual land’ that was scheduled to be auctioned by Linden in the future and thus before it was available to any other users, and to acquire it for as little as one U.S. dollar rather than whatever winning bid (in excess of the minimum opening bid of U.S. $1,000.00) might have resulted from a legitimate auction” and that “After acquiring the ‘virtual land’ through this fraudulent scheme, Bragg intended to subdivide it, sell it to other Second Life users, and potentially obtain thousands of dollars in U.S. funds in ill-gotten profit.”...
OK, so Linden Lab is attempting recourse when it gives none over apparently consistent glitches with their land system which costs people money? That is one sided, making the ruling that the Terms of Service are one-sided seem rather... real. Especially when known figures consistently profit from these glitches.
People have suggested many things to fix the system. Linden Lab hasn't done so. Reuters and other media agencies continue to ignore the problem, almost as if they are afraid of the story.
Be careful when dealing with mainland. Linden Lab gives the exploiters a home advantage... and complains when others exploit them. Thus my comment.
Just watch this be settled before the end of 2007.

Land bot
Well, now Linden Labs knows how I feel when someone took my land from me due to my friend and I making a mistake in a land transfer and selecting sell to "anyone" rather than to my specific name.
This is absolutely no different than a landbot taking land from someone.
I made a mistake with my friend in picking sell to "anyone" for zero Lindens rather than to my specific name.
Lindens made a mistake by allowing their auction URL to not be secure, and making it so that someone could take advantage of it.
Same thing...carelessness results in land loss.
But
They sure quickly look out for themselves, freeze assets, and take their land back. Why not provide the same protection and service for their good, paying, honest customers vicitimzed by landbots. I was lucky, only had to buy my own land back for 21,811 Lindens from the landbot that stole it from us during the transaction. An expensive lesson for me, but looks like Lindens will take a free lesson and just take their land back, as they should have done for me.
Please Lindens...I love this game!! Provide us, your loyal good customers, with the same support you obviously know is the right way to do things...since you do it for yourselves. Come on...it is great to help someone who was victimized by another...belive me...you will feel good about yourselves and sleep better at night knowing that you are protecting your loyal honest customers from landbots and thieves!
