Mainland Purchases Still Risky Business

From a comment by Citrine Florio on Beware Landbaron Merlin: 'Poof and Your Land is Gone' (UPDATED):

He Got Me Too:

My partner and I had close to or a lil over 30,000sqm of land in Milmeranda a few small pieces - 512s or less for sale there also - the rest was our club/casino. Needless to say, he took it all from us. Lindens didn't do a think. *Surprise* and even had the audacity to double tier both of us that month \0/

This simply re-emphasizes the issues of mainland in Second Life which is reason enough not to buy Mainland right now.

I don't have the details on this particular incident, but after hearing them enough times I honestly don't feel that I need to. Remember what Cory Linden said in response to Chaos Mohr:

[12:28] Jeska Linden shouts: Chaos Mohr: What is being done to address land database issues which result in things such as parcels being paid for and not transferring, parcels being sold to multiple people etc? This seems to be a major technical issue which keeps cropping up and hasn’t been fixed yet.
[12:28] Cory Linden shouts: These are likely symtpoms of the broader stresses on the central db and transactions..
[12:29] Cory Linden shouts: as I mentioned int he blog post, we are attacking these problems in two ways, to first identity weak spots in the current system and to build a better transaction system as well.

Of course, once again, Linden Lab did nothing and I fully expect the mainstream media to continue avoiding the land glitch issue as if it were the plague. Who do you have to bribe in the media to get some coverage these days?

Reminds me... I need to find out if the Lindens have un-borked my billing information. I bet you a Linden (dollar) that it ain't fixed yet...
