SecondLife Problems With Prims And Other Things?

Yup, it is official. The Asset Server is still borked. I'm guessing that before they opened the grid they did testing, but it would seem under load that the asset server is wonky.

Myself? I've seen texture upload issues, not to mention copied objects that were re-textured not saving their textures. It's time to get the Oompah Loompah's in gear... this is apparently a grid load issue. Is the asset server going to explode? Is it network congestion on the grid? No one knows, but they are working on it.

As wonky as it is, it presents a conundrum. To fix the errors, one has to be able to repeat the errors. To repeat the errors, there has to be load on the grid. To have load on the grid, you need to be on the grid with all of your friends. And this means that stuff will simply fail in the interim.

Practical suggestions:

  • Don't rez things that are no copy. You might lose them, and then you get sent into the 'lost my stuff' line which is somewhat long from what I understand. Word has it there are a few skeletons to step over, but the good news is that the skeletons don't want their inventory back.
  • Don't buy anything that is no copy right now, or when you try to rez it you may lose it.
  • A great way to occupy your time in SecondLife is to go somewhere that you haven't been. Never mind if your hair and shoes end up stuck in your butt - this is a new fashion trend that is catching on. Just don't wiggle too much when you walk, especially if you have pointy shoes or spiky hair.
  • If you are making stuff, expect to have to do it again. Just think of it as 'practice'. (then grumble and moan a lot)

Dunno what to say. I think the asset server requires a lobotomy performed by a singing quartet of Shakespearean orangutangs, but... I bet you this is a hardware problem. Like a power supply fault on an asset server. Or a cockroach stuck in the fan blades for the power supply. Something odd. Whoever slays this bug within Linden Lab should get a free prim or something. :-D

Haha! I nailed it!

Hardware Issue.
