Land flipper adds to Zindra woes

When you're in the position of fighting to get your own way and insisting you're following the right path, you need a little bit of help at times. Help for Linden Lab at this time can come from residents. Those who have already moved to Zindra can rightly point out that the process is working.

However what you don't need is some numpty upsetting the applecart and alas, this is what happened when a resident whose reason for getting a full sim swap to Zindra was already being questioned, then went and did something extremely silly, they set the sim on Zindra for sale for the sum of L$1,000,000.

This undermines Linden Lab's claims that the first settlers in Zindra, those who are entitled to the free moves, are those who are most severely impacted by the new adult content policy. Linden Lab really don't need this sort of thing happening at this time.

The options open to Linden Lab are slim as they fully intend to auction land on Zindra, they can hardly ban reselling of land when they themselves intend to do it, but maybe they should point out to people that this sort of profiteering during the land migration period really isn't on. Whilst technically it's allowed, ethically it stinks, it's two fingers up not only at Linden Lab, but also at those residents who are anxiously waiting to see if their application for a land swap will be approved.

The sim has since been taken off the market and the owners are now erecting a castle but this sort of thing only adds to the discontent over this policy and the way it is being implemented. Linden Lab can't envisage every scenario but concerns about exactly this sort of thing happening have been raised with Linden Lab over the past three months. Whilst the queue is frozen it's time for Linden Lab to prevent resale for a period of say a month, then we don't have all these accusations about people gaming the system being thrown around so easily.

Re: Land flipper adds to Zindra woes

The one thing I think that is very stupid on the Labs part is the fact they give us the option to keep the old land too.

The problem is i would assume most people would keep the old land and sell it for rock bottom prices bringing the value of mainland down. Why would anyone trade, ie abandon, half a sim when they can sell it easily for 100,000L and pay 1/3rd of that in tier for it for the few weeks it may be up for sale. At that point its instant profit. So now you take a person with enough up front capitol and they buy up a ton of mature mainland, put up a bunch of orgy photos and drop in a 50L classified and all of a sudden they qualify for free Zindra land, meter for meter, but get the option to keep their old land too.

I have talked to a few self entitled residents who feel that they are "owed" it and Linden Lab is screwing them and its the least they could do. I disagree. In spite of the incredible amount of money we pay them, the moment we click yes to their terms of service is the moment we agree they don't owe us a dime. If a person did actually "trade" the land then they should be allowed to sell it as it belongs to them and they could sell their old land at any time so they should be allowed to sell Zindra land at any time. If they opted to keep their old land, then the Zindra land should be locked until all the auctions are over at least. You don't want to pay tier on it fine, abandon it, you never paid for it anyways and you still have your mainland.

Re: Land flipper adds to Zindra woes

I figured this was a way to clear old mainland... a lot of the mainland is clogged with ex-adfarms or old semi-abndoned First Land builds.  This allows more of that old mainland to be recycled.

Re: Land flipper adds to Zindra woes

Well that's the thing, they don't pay tier for two weeks, not as in they get a tier bill in two weeks time, it simply doesn't count as a tier bill so it really does equal free land. Allowing people to do this has to be wrong.

The Zindra land should indeed be locked, I couldn't agree with you more.
