Its all gone noisy over there

As if by magic a whole plethora of new blogs have appeared and as if by not at all magic, the default email notifications are going to annoy some people.

So if you're in that position after posting a blog comment you can turn the damn things off. Simply clicking the stop email notifications link under actions doesn't quite cut the mustard as this is a setting for each blog post, so don't do that, do this:

Find your blog comment, click on your name, this takes you to your shiny new blog profile. Now click on edit preferences and that's where you'll find the default email notification settings and discover that you've been set to automatically receive notifications, subscribe to threads yadda yadda yadda.

After you've clicked save, click on the email notifications link on your profile and if you've missed anything it will be listed there, simply unsubscribe there.

With that out of the way, hey this is good! I like the new blogs, I like the channels, I like the enthusiasm, I predict that some of the bloggers will have that enthusiasm knocked out of them, especially in the land and community channels. However for now it's fun.

They've even got Catherine blogging, who seems to have a secret comic book hobby as not only is she talking about Spiderman comics, she also has a blog post entitled "Twitter me this", which is surely a reference to The Riddler...and you thought she was only interested in shoes hey? We learn something new everyday.

There isn't much substance to the blogs yet, but that's fine, we're in the introductory stages and this makes sense. There's talk of roadmaps, travel blogs, technical blogs, community, press, it's all rather interesting and the Lindens are currently very enthusiastic about it all.

The potential for vastly improved communication is here and I hope it works. There will I'm sure be some teething trouble, the email notifications for example, but this should be a minor issue.

This is the sort of blog page I wanted to see, lots of blogs linked and then you go off to read the entry in full for the areas that most take your fancy. There should be plenty for everyone here, now if they'd just have an inworld business and economy blog I'd be over the moon!
