As others have been playing other games I decided I would too. Actually I had been playing Neverwinter Nights on the side, you know for ages I wondered what on earth NWN had to do with Second Life and then finally realised that new world notes was nothing whatsoever to do with Neverwinter nights.
However I decided that I would be a complete Second Life fanboi and play games inworld. Indeed I decided to head to orange island and check out (SLURL) Madpea. Well again this was slightly disapointing as I'd read they used to be called "Beyond Imagination" and for some reason I thought they might be linked to beyond who used to make games on the Spectrum. Ye Gods I thought, could this be true, will I be able to play Lords of Midnight in Second Life??? Hell no :( but what I did find was interesting and something I will return to.
Donning some scuba gear I went around an underwater maze in search of keys to open chests, carefully avoiding mines. After finding one key I was told that my arms weren't that long. I was then told to wear a scuba tank, how could I be breathing underwater without one? So armed now with the correct gear I found three keys and then got im'd into distraction and blew up a mine. So now I'm dead but hey that's fine, in Second Life nobody hears you scream and I'm already a vampire so I can raise myself from the dead.
There are plenty of games to play, you can read about them here. I'll send you to the game page rather than the main home page because the main home page is a bit psychedelic in a green sort of way and I don't want to give you motion sickness.
Not only are there games, including point and click crime solving games, but there are also puzzles and other activities to keep you occupied. My experience of the Second Life game scene is limited, I can't figure out en garde, I've had my arse whupped in Greedy Greedy and I've just taken up 7Seas Fishing. You guys may tell me these games are rubbish and there are other far more awesome games, but from what I've seen so far this looks fun and interesting.
Let's be clear, it's not a patch on WoW and I'll admit I'm easily pleased, I mean I'm sorely tempted right now to download a Speccy emulator and get stuck into Lords of Midnight, Sabre Wulf, Manic Miner, Trashman, Tir Na Nog .... ah those were the days without fear of tier.
However I like what I've seen so far and I'll certainly be back. I want to see how these guys develop, it's well worth a look.
