[17:58] Sarah Nerd: Well I don't hand out money to random Strangers to get new hair other than with my money trees and freebie paradise, and by the looks of your profile picture you already have a nice skin and hair and clothes. Asking strangers for money must be working out well for you.
I think we all get these on a regular basis nowdays. I'm not sure if they just search a common name like "Sarah" and message everyone down the line or what. It has become a lot more frequent lately, to the point where it's just plain annoying. So is this the new way newbies make money? Will this replace camping when traffic no longer makes a difference in search?

Even Worse...
I get these too, I even have people come into my store and shout in local chat (if there are a few people around) for L$. Once, early on in my SL life, I gave someone the 50L$ they needed to buy a gun. The commission on the sale was more so I figured it would even out. Imagine my surprise when they teleported out without buying the gun (instant ban and mute).
I think even worse though are the people that think they are worth a (in some cases huge) discount just because. There are a couple of problems with this.
1) Most of the stuff in my store is affiliate vendors or vendors placed by other people, I can't change the prices.
2) Discounts asked for are usually more than the commission I receive from the item in question.
3) Why the heck should I pay anyone to buy from me?
For my own ranges, if your buying a few of them I may consider a discount, but otherwise no chance. At this point one of three things generally happen, they buy the item anyway ("You don't get if you don't ask", fair enough I guess, I do this IRL as well), they teleport out (bye bye!) or they threaten to spread negative "reviews" of my products and service (eject, ban, mute, bye bye!).
I provide a simple service, a lot of weapons and hud makers in the same place so you can browse and buy without having to search down loads of makers. For that, all I ask is you buy the item at the same price as you would in the makers store. Is that too much to ask?
There is another way to deal with beggars in Toxian City
Some beggar was asking me for money in Toxia the other day. I shot him until he went away. Of course he didn't have a combat system so it didn't really do him any damage but I think being attacked by a cyborg with a flamethrower when you start begging gets the message across pretty well.
