New Linden Lab CEO Announced!

Reuters SL announced today that the new CEO will be online marketing executive Mark Kingdon AKA Marcus Voom in world, now to be known as M Linden.  Philip will step down and become chairmen  on May 15th and work on development.  The full story is located HERE.  I'd like to comment on how I feel this will effect us, but I'm really not sure.  There will be changes I'm sure, but what changes remain to be seen.  I guess as usual time will tell.

Hmm.

An occasional user. The guy who wrote this, which had something to do with big business entering Second Life according to Reuters.

Hmm.

He says big business is not a priority. Smart. He talks about magnifying beneficial Linden Lab culture without mentioning the negatives - good public relations, trying to maintain that positive vibe.

Hmm.

Honestly, he will have an uphill battle in making an impression on me. He certainly has talked the talk so far - but the question is whether he can walk the walk. I'll give him 3 months and see what happens. Of course, he's not exactly walking into a friendly area right now... But 3 months should be sufficient for him to do the standard 'new CEO' shakeout and reorganization of policy and resources.

More changes?

There have been enough changes, they need someone to hold the leash and tell them to behave and to respect their customers. If he can bring some marketing and customer service skills he will be a very welcome addition.
