I had a quick chat with Bogart Beck about the SLCapEx website, which has been down for about 2 days. According to what he has heard, there's a problem with the SSH handler on the server. Their host is still working on it, but he assures me that there is no data loss.
Sounds like the server just isn't talking pretty right now. It's sulking for one reason or another.

ISE Response
Hello Nobody, I have been a fan of your blog for some time. You are a very good writer with a good sense of humor. I may take you up on giving out important press releases.
Andy, thank you for recognizing some of the strengths of the ISE and I agree, I am not very good at marketing.
I would like to say, I have nothing but respect for VSTEX.
As far as the issues with SLCAPEX, technical problems happen. Even Second Life has a few now and then :). Hopefully SLCAPEX gets this issue resolved shortly.
Delicious Demar, I understand your disappointment right now with the exchanges as a whole. I hope that I can be judged on my actions and not the actions of anyone else. I believe what one does is more important than what one says. You are an excellent example of this belief, your actions in your delisting are commendable and you are doing what is right for your shareholders.

SLCAPEX Hacked!
Its obvious to me that SLCAPEX has been hacked! HA!

Website down or suspended
Its probably down to stop the companies leaving. Recent discussions between BO and a group of SLcapex listed companies have strained relationships. Given the previous issues being:dis heart at the conversion to SLW shares of Investors liquid holdings, and the withdrawal halt which found some companies with no liquid funds at all to cover tier.
I doubt that.
The reason I doubt it is that I probably would have had some CEOs talking to me by now. Most of the real stuff isn't actually as cloak and dagger as you think. :-)
Liquidity issues - sure, I can believe that. If CEOs are having issues with this, I'm all ears.
Plus, I'm familiar with the problem that they are having with their host - I had the host myself, and I also had the same problem years ago.
I suggested that they switch hosts.

Fugazi is a SLCAPEX stooge
Ultimately- it looks like the ISE may rise to be the No. 1 exchange in Second Life. Its main strength being that its trading platform and software is all written by the exchange owner- Cocky Dagger.
Whilst the SLCAPEX and WSE suffer from these shut-downs again and again, the ISE has not closed once since it first opened about a year ago.
The ISE was in fact the second exchange to function properly in SL (MSE was web only and VCE was a scam). SLCAPEX came much later.
As I write this the SLCAPEX is shut down- probably hacked. Its propaganda machine SLReports is shut down too. The ISE is currently the only exchange functioning in SL other than the dodgy VSTEX.
The only problem with the ISE is it isnt as good as marketing than the other exchanges- but at least you know you can trust its owner (unlike WSE) and you arent buying in to a fraud ring (SLCAPEX).

Over at our exchange we make
Over at our exchange we make a priority to talk with CEOs, traders and the general public. We also try to put out as much info as we can.
Sure, sometimes we're late with giving info; sometimes we may not give as much info as people would like. Those are shortcomings we're trying to deal with.
That said, it must be noted that we respect both the ISE and the CEO Cocky Dagger, we hold both of them in great consideration. When it come to the SLCAPEX, we can add on top of the respect and great consideration the fact that many times we've been talking with Bogart Beck, finding us and them on the same side of the river, so to speak.
Seeing the amount of the issues we have to deal with on our exchange I can only feel for the SLCAPEX team, for it's not easy at all to run an exchange, let alone when it's big like theirs is.
About us being "dodgy" that's not the term we would use. We are well aware of some layout and ergonomics problems in our platform and we're aware of other issues. We'll get there as soon as possible, however we would like to receive well documented critics and suggestions, if there are any.
Hope this helps,

VSTex dodgy? LOL
Thats pretty funny. I would have to say that VSTex is a great exchange. Yea ISE has been around a little longer. But VSTex also has a great trading platform and software is all written by the exchange owner- Tobia and his(Italian webagency)RL company. Oh and don't forget about there in world trading HUD that is far more advanced then any other in trading system. VSTex has one of the best people as there communication officer in Samantha Goldflake. So at this point I would have to say that VSTex is the top Exchange in SL. I'm sure we can debate this all day. But if your going to compare apples to oranges there is always going to an advantage that one has over the other.
Also nice speculation on SLCapEx getting hacked. Just like people speculated that AnCapEx.com got hacked. The only exchange to get hacked was WSE back in June or July 07. And WSE getting hacked was the reason why VHI left WSE to go to ISE. The reason VHI went to ISE was because Cocky was/is the programmer of the site. But VHI left ISE because it was going to be auctioned off. And we didn't want to be pasted around to a new owner where the CEO's of the exchange had no say in it. So we went to VSTex, a SL Exchange that was community based, created by the owner. I am extremly happy with Vstex and I am proud to call it the home exchange of VHI.

I am? Really? Is Andy McLad an ISE Stooge?
Thanks for telling me. I wasn't aware of that. Perhaps you could give me some evidence of that? :-)
Well, while you're waiting - I agree about ISE. But it isn't marketing as much as Cocky doesn't hand me anything. I get stuff from other exchanges, so they get published. Like Cocky, I have limited time, so if I don't know about something, guess what? I don't write about it.
So - call me a stooge. But open the window of your glass house before you throw the rock next time. ;-) Especially when 'Andy McLad' doesn't even exist inworld.
Heh. Blessed are the trolls.

I guess it's all relative
I suppose that there are different types of "reliability". Wooot! the website has stayed up (this is a GOOD thing - don't get me wrong).
I would prefer proven reliability of character, as opposed to server uptime. But that's just me.
And I don't know anything about ISE - so that isn't a slam on them - just thinking you might have damned them with faint praise there Andy...
And no, I am not bitter. Honest.

Well, since you're out of it...
I'll tell you point blank that I believe WSE is ripping people off, and will do so more with WSE 4.0. Even with Luke's supposed shift of direction, he hasn't really addressed some important factors - and now that he'll be playing with PayPal, the Internet Rules. :-)

No subtext
Nobody - I am shocked and horrified. You have never given any indication that you felt that way!
*grin*
There wasn't meant to be any subtext there - it wasn't an endorsement of WSE - more of what was supposed to be a humourous poke at all of the exchanges. As you pointed out - I am not on WSE any more - and I will never be on another exchange again.
I still have my trader account on WSE - even though DDE delisted. I have about 800k Lindens worth of cash and shares in there - mostly in WTF and HCL. It belongs to my shareholders, so I can't make a unilateral decision to lose it by breaking Luke's rules and "creating a negative environment" for the WSE.
So, I won't...
I bet even this vanilla post is on the edge.
You can read whatever subtext you want into that.

VSTEX -The ONE and ONLY...
...left right now!
OK , trading Volume is low but it´s the ONLY SL-Stockexchange i still have a GOOD feeling when pay the ATM inworld ;)
No fear that my money will be converted in any form of junk-bonds, No fear that my money will be re-invested in RL-Stocks/RL-"investments" or even worse, in sportsbetting activities ;)
No "Ponzi-Powered" JT-Slcapex , No "Dictator-Luke-Powered" World-Scam-Exchange, just a well programmed, community based exchange with a very professional Management and Support.
Pretty good stocks also, have a look at Crystal Springs Land and Loan (CSL) which IPO @0.50 L$.
Loan Business remains strong in SL since the banking ban, Skip Oceanlane is doing a great job also, it`s a buy imaho.(Assets per Share 0.74 L$).Nice Dividends also, last month was 0.03/Share.
