Linden Lab Upper Management Musical Chairs: SLCN.TV To Air Special Metanomics On The Impact To Virtual World Second Life In Response To Rosedale Stepping Down As CEO

Second Life, March 26, 2008 -- The founder and CEO of Linden Lab, Philip Rosedale, is turning in his executive key for a seat on the Board of Directors and the search for his replacement is underway. Many residents in the virtual world of Second Life are left to wonder what will happen in the days to come with their Governor Linden not at the helm, and who will be the chosen successor. Cornell University Professor Robert Bloomfield (Beyers Sellers in Second Life) will host a special edition of Metanomics to derive answers to some difficult questions about the future of Second Life and the impact to the metaverse in response to Rosedale's stepping down as CEO.

Questions are abound both in and out of the virtual world. Residents of Second Life are wondering what impact this second major upper management staff change in the last year will bring and how the progressive development of Second Life will maintain its momentum. The direction of the virtual world with this changing of the guard and the impact on real world enterprises with a vested interested in Second Life's virtual economy, or with plans to step into the virtual world market, are in question. Bloomfield (known as Beyers Sellers in Second Life) will be on task to pose these questions and more to one of Second Life's founding investors and current Chairman of the Board, Mitch Kapor.

Rosedale will be taking the seat as Chairman of the Board as Mitch Kapor, current Chair, will be moving on to more integral duties under a new title not yet announced by Linden Lab. In a recent aside on topics on tap for the one-on-one with Kapor, Bloomfield offers, "We will talk about his vision for virtual worlds technology and business strategy and, of course, the future of Linden Lab and Second Life."

The 2008 Merovingi Fashion Awards geared up this week with their week-long fashion showcase as a prelude to the fashion awards gala on Saturday, April 26, 2008, which will be broadcast live on SLCN.TV from 4 pm to 7 pm PST. MFA2008 is hosted by the Merovingi Group, which was established to increase awareness of international humanitarian efforts within the virtual world of Second Life.

The Merovingi Group is proudly sponsoring the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Borders during this year's Fashion Awards and have set a goal to raise $15,000 dollars for the selected organizations, which have made exemplary strides to improve access to the information and means to seek medical care and treatment for millions of people worldwide.

Last year's show, helped raise over $5,000 for the American Cancer Society and crowned the Best New Designer and Best SL Designer. This year, the Second Life community nominated designers in five categories with the top five accepting nominees in each category receiving invitations to attend the Merovingi Fashion Awards to showcase their work. MFA 2008 Awards will be given out for Best Female, Best Male, Best Goth, Best Furry, and Best New Fashion label.

Partners and sponsors on the roster supporting MFA 2008 are SLCN.TV, RUNWAY Magazine, MODA Modeling School, 3DG - The Don Duke Development Group, Max March Industries, and the MHA Group.
