Metaplace Alpha Testers Running Amok

As I wrote before, Metaplace was looking for alpha testers and I had applied.

No surprise - I didn't make the grade. But in the email I received as a consolation prize, it suggested that I create a login for the forums and participate. I did, creating an account on the Metaplace forums and poking around. There is absolutely nothing that I could find which a non-alpha tester could do? What is the point?

I asked, but haven't really received a good answer yet. It does seem like a very strange way to do things; I for one am not impressed with this. There is no way for me to actively participate in discussion regarding things which I haven't seen, and have only heard of abstractly.

Methinks Metaplace got the buzz premature. Web enabled objects certainly is something to build on, and I do have ideas... but those ideas are mine. If I'm not using Metaplaced, I can't play with my ideas.

In essence... yawn. Next?
