Lookout! More Lawyers

Looks like more lawyers are creeping in - but this time I learned something:

..."As in the real world, many of the legal disputes arising from this case and others from the virtual world would be best served by an ADR approach, which provides confidentiality and swift resolve. Quick resolution of disputes by mediators familiar with virtual worlds will allow the generation of revenue to continue for users," he says. ADR can also address virtual disputes regarding the enforceability of arbitration clauses, and confidentiality issues arising when the real identities of virtual members are exposed, he says...

ADR? Adiabatic Demagnetisation Refrigeration? Advanced Dungeons & Rabbits? Automated Dialogue Replacement?

No, no... though the Dungeons & Rabbits method might be interesting, ADR in this context is Alternative dispute resolution. Of course, alternative dispute resolution requires everyone involved to agree to participate - and that doesn't work really well when the other person doesn't deem it necessary... in my eyes, it would only work when two or more people think that they are right and everyone else wrong. In essence, the other person hasn't logged off and disappeared with loads of money.
