Godspeed

I had a chance to spend some time today at Geyl's memorial in SL. I watched Geyl's movie about her life and friends, as I watched those same friends paying quiet tribute to her at the memorial site - to this remarkable woman that has been taken from them so young. I knew Geyl as a sweet, dynamic, funny, and incredibly positive woman - she struck me as someone with boundless energy that simply repelled anything negative and wrestled the world around her into something more positive, something filled with friendship and love and laughter. That she did this, knowing that her endgame approached, is humbling and inspiring.

After watching "Endgame", smiling and crying all at once, I feel no pity for Geyl - I get the sense that she would not have liked that at all. Instead, I feel inspired to learn from her message of love and trust - to take the gift of perspective she has given us - showing us what is truly important and what is simply white noise. There was no white noise in Geyl's world, though God knows she had more reason to hear it than any of us does. And now - the singing of angels fills it.

Godspeed Geyl. You are loved. And we miss you.

EDIT: Unless this is a hoax... I hear that people that donated to the Endgame fund have had their money returned - and I waded through a translated version of all 15 pages of the dutch forums mentioned above... sigh If it turns out to be a hoax - then I think I will have to wear a tag that says "Sucker" for about a week. dd
